Halloween Costumes Gone Amok!

17 10 2009

I just love Halloween. Don’t you? Come on…what other time of year can you pretend to be someone else and not have people stare at you like you just escaped from the nearest sanitarium? Wait…did I just reveal something I shouldn’t have about myself? 🙂  Yes, I’m 30, and I still love dressing up! It’s even more fun for me now because I get to dress up my kids, too. This year, the kiddos are going as animals. My youngest daughter’s going as a spider (an absolutely CUTE spider, btw) and my oldest girl is going as a pink flamingo. They’re going to fit right in at ‘Boo at the Zoo’! I can’t wait, but I still haven’t figured out what my hubby and I are going to go as…

I’ve scoured the internet for ideas (instead of writing, shh!), and let me tell you, I’ve found some…doozies. so, in the spirit of the season, I thought I’d share my top five “favorites” with you guys…

Wet T-Shirt Winner-the obviously fake boobs just crack me up!

Hmm…does anyone else notice a theme here…? Most of these are sexual in nature. Wonder what that says about me? Better yet…I probably shouldn’t ponder that question, should I, LOL? 🙂

Anyway, don’t forget to comment on any of our October posts to be entered in October’s contests! Good luck & Happy Halloween!

Better Late Than Never

2 07 2009

Cliché but none-the-less true. I am so sorry for my lack of posting on Monday. As Staci mentioned in her post last night, I totally forgot. For those who don’t know, my husband is currently in Officer Candidate School in Alabama, so I’ve been going solo with my 2 little girls (both under the age of 4) since the beginning of June. Needless to say, I’ve been a bit scatterbrained as of late. I never quite realized how much my hubby ACTUALLY did around the house, lol, but don’t tell him I said that! Now, back to my post…

June (as with all the summer months) have always been my “sweatin’ off the pounds” time of the year. I don’t know why, but there’s something about summer that’s always motivated me to get (back!) in shape. Maybe it’s the thought of being seen in a swimsuit with all those “winter pounds” still clinging to my butt, hips, and thighs that does it! 🙂 So far during the month of June, I’ve manage to shed 13 pds, and I have no plans on stopping there. I hope to surprise my husband when I pick him up in August. It’ll be fun to see his face when he sees me for the first time in 2+ months, and I’m 20 or so pounds lighter, lol.

I’ve tried to lose weight as part of my new year’s resolution, but when it’s cold outside, all I want to eat is steaming hot bowls of chili—loaded with crackers and cheese—and LOTS of hot cocoa. Not exactly contusive to weight lose! What about you? When is your best weight loss time?

IMG00030-20090629-1619For my addition for our Summer Fun Contest, I’m adding a couple fun trinkets I picked up in Savannah, GA while on a few well-earned days off during my AT (annual training) at Fort Gordon. (Yes, I’m military too!) Not sure the pics do them justice, but it’s a super-smoother whale-shaped stone and a small jar filled with blue sand and seashells. I thought they were too cute! Hopefully, you will too!

Anyway, guys and gals, I’m off to the gym and then to the post office to mail my hubby a letter and some pics of his girlies. (The poor guy has to “pay” 25 pushups for every stamp that’s on any letter he gets!) Good luck!

Jordyn loves to kill people—textually, of course.

Whether a chilling paranormal mystery or a hardcore military romantic suspense, she always writes from her heart, and she never spares her fictional heroes and heroines any pain. Her motto: What doesn’t kill her between-the-pages couple makes for one hell of a read!

She grew up an Army brat, and now, she has a couple Army brats of her own. She even married a fellow soldier. She and her sergeant hubby live in central Arkansas and are both members of the Arkansas National Guard.

Plotting Bootcamp from Rose’s Colored Glasses

27 05 2009

**forwarded from Rose’s Colored Glasses**

Maybe you’re planning on going to Nationals and pitching a new story to an agent or editor. Maybe you have an idea for a new story you want to begin writing, but need a little help shaping it. Either way, Rose’s Colored Glasses is mustering recruits for the next Plotting Bootcamp, scheduled to begin the first of June. What makes our plotting workshop different? Every step of the way, you will get feedback and critique. And the price is very affordable for a month’s worth of intensive instruction! Aspiring and published authors will benefit. In fact, we have many returning students who use the workshop to tackle their next big project.

What you can look forward to during Plotting Bootcamp?

Learn a methodical approach to harness your creativity in order to produce an in-depth plot for your next novel! Sound scary? It is-when you’re staring at an empty page without a compass or a map to guide you through the novelistic jungle. Your DIs (drill instructors) will lead you through four weeks of activities that will help strengthen your abilities to: capture the conflicts, the major plot line and subplots; deepen your knowledge of your characters; and conceive of and develop an in-depth, by-chapter description of your book. Elle James and Delilah Devlin will accomplish this with weekly lessons, bi-weekly chats and daily online communication. Be ready for bivouac!

The New www.jordyn-james.com is Live

14 05 2009

It’s official! My brand-spanking new website, www.jordyn-james.com, is live!.

I’d like to thank the super, SUPER talented Ms. Rae Monet at Rae Monet, Inc Design for the awesome job she did. I couldn’t have been happier if she’d plugged directly into my mind and tapped directly into my thoughts. She perfectly blended the two genres I write, paranormal and romantic suspense. I bow to her awesomeness. I’ll be tweaking content for the next day or so to get things placed exactly how I want them but come on over and check it out. I promise you’ll be wowed.
